Il Mountain è una prova di abilità che risale ai primi anni dell'800 in America quando i cacciatori di pellicce e gli uomini di montagna si inoltravano alle fiere portando con loro gli attrezzi che normalmente accompagnavano le loro giornate e cioè coltelli ed asce. In questi momenti era normale scommettere sulla propria abilità e precisione.
The Mountain is a test of skill that dates back to the early 1800s in America when fur hunters and mountain men went to fairs carrying with them the tools that normally accompanied their days, namely knives and axes. In these moments it was normal to bet on one's skill and precision.
Obbiettivo
La prova consiste nel centrare delle carte da poker poste su un normale bersaglio di legno che può essere fissato ad un tavolato od a un treppiede. Per terra è segnata solamente la linea dei tre metri che è la distanza minima per tutti i lanci, linea che ovviamente non va toccata col piede avanzato.
Durante la durata della competizione ogni partecipante potrà postare tutti i video che desidera, purché migliorativi.
The test consists in hitting the poker cards placed on a normal wooden target that can be fixed to a board or a tripod. On the ground, only the three-meter line is marked, which is the minimum distance for all the throws, a line that obviously should not be touched with the advanced foot.
During the duration of the competition, each participant can post as many videos as he wishes, provided they are improved.
Gli strumenti consentiti
Il coltello da utilizzare è il BOWIE. Vista comunque la situazione particolare sono accettati anche altri tipi di coltello in via eccezionale. Chi utilizzerà il bowie sarà avvantaggiato in caso di pareggio.
Il bersaglio dovrà avere un diametro massimo di 50 centimetri. Se più grande, dovrà essere disegnata la circonferenza con tale diametro.
The knife to use is the BOWIE. However, given the particular situation, other types of knife are also exceptionally accepted. Those who use the bowie will have an advantage in the event of a tie.
The target must have a maximum diameter of 50 centimeters. If larger, the circumference with this diameter must be drawn.
Le asce ammesse sono quelle che rispettano le misure precisate nelle due immagini.
The axes allowed are those that respect the measures specified in the two images.
Modalità di lancio
I coltelli usati erano strumenti da lavoro e quindi affilati e per questo motivo i lanci saranno tutti da manico facendo compiere all'attrezzo OBBLIGATORIAMENTE UN GIRO.
Si inizia disegnando una croce sul bersaglio in modo da dividerlo in quattro settori uguali e fissando una carta nel centro. Altre quattro carte saranno fissate al bersaglio, una per ogni settore. Si consiglia di fissare ogni carta con almeno due puntine per evitare che si sposti quando colpita e che quindi non venga tagliata. Il lanciatore dovrà cercare di colpire con il coltello tutte le cinque carte partendo dalla prima in alto a destra e proseguendo in senso orario e concludendo poi con quella centrale (vedi figura).
The knives used were work tools and therefore sharpened and for this reason the throws will all be from the handle making the tool MANDATORILY ONE SPIN.
You start by drawing a cross on the target in order to divide it into four equal sectors and fixing a card in the center. Four more cards will be pinned to the target, one for each sector. We recommend fixing each card with at least two pins to prevent it from moving when hit and therefore not being cut. The thrower must try to hit all five cards with a knife, starting from the first in the upper right corner and continuing clockwise and then ending with the central one (see figure).
Successivamente dovrà ripetere la prova con l'ascia per un totale quindi di 10 lanci (5 con il coltello più 5 con l'ascia). Il lanciatore che lo desidera può fare prima la prova ascia e poi quella coltello ma questo DEVE ESSERE OBBLIGATORIAMENTE DICHIARATO ALL'INIZIO DEL VIDEO.
Ogni volta che una carta sarà danneggiata in modo evidente il lanciatore dovrà sostituirla per poter consentire ai giudici di gara di leggere chiaramente il punto.

Whenever a card is obviously damaged, the thrower will have to replace it in order to allow the competition judges to read the point clearly.
Punteggio
Verrà assegnato 1 punto se l'attrezzo si pianta nel settore giusto ma non colpisce la carta. Non è sufficiente toccare la riga, il taglio deve intaccare la superficie interna del settore. Nel 5° lancio, se la carta non viene colpita, è sufficiente che l'attrezzo si pianti in qualunque punto del bersaglio.
1 point will be scored if the tool sticks in the right sector but does not hit the card. It is not enough to touch the border line, the cut must affect the internal surface of the sector. In the 5th throw, if the card is not hit it, is sufficient for the tool to stick in any point of the target.
Verranno assegnati 2 punti se l'attrezzo taglia il bordo della carta (non è sufficiente toccarla).
2 points will be scored if the tool cuts the edge of the card (it is not enough to touch it).
Verranno assegnati 3 punti se l'attrezzo taglia la carta nel centro senza tagliare il bordo.
3 points will be scored if the tool cuts the card in its center without cutting the edge.
Il massimo punteggio ottenibile è quindi 15 + 15 = 30 punti.
Maximum score obtainable is 15 +15 = 30 points.
Precisazioni
- lanci no spin, half spin o in cui l'attrezzo compie più di un giro NON SONO ACCETTATI.
- a parità di punteggio verrà considerato davanti il lanciatore che ha utilizzato il coltello tipo bowie. In caso che entrambi lo abbiano utilizzato sarà considerato davanti quello che ha postato il video per primo.
- i video dovranno essere nitidi, singoli e continuati.
- ogni punteggio dovrà essere evidente e quindi si raccomanda di fare sempre primi piani chiari.
- in caso di dubbio per qualsiasi motivo il giudice assegnerà il punteggio più basso.
- per agevolare i giudici di gara e ridurre il rischio che un punto non venga convalidato,è CONSIGLIABILE fare sempre un primo piano dello stato delle 5 carte prima che inizi la prova.
- il lanciatore ed il bersaglio dovranno comparire sempre nel video esclusi i momenti dei primi piani.
- la competizione è aperta a tutti, non è prevista nessuna quota d'iscrizione e non è prevista premiazione.
- visto il momento eccezionale al posto delle carte da poker regolari sono consentite sagome di carta o cartoncino di larghezza 6 e altezza 9 centimetri.
- se il bordo della carta viene accidentalmente tagliato o strappato il punteggio assegnato sarà 2 punti anche se la carta è stata colpita nel centro.
- è possibile utilizzare una carta più volte ma il lanciatore si assume la responsabilità in caso di punteggio difficilmente leggibile accettando un punteggio inferiore.
- E' CONSENTITO SOLAMENTE L'USO DI UN SOLO COLTELLO E UNA SOLA ASCIA.
- no spin, half spin or throws in which the tools makes more than one spin ARE NOT ALLOWED.
- with the same score, the thrower who used the bowie knife will be considered in front. In case both have used it, the one who posted the video first will be considered in front.
- the videos must be clear, single and continued.
- each score must be evident and therefore it is recommended to always make clear close-ups
- in case of doubt for any reason the judge will assign the lowest score.
- to facilitate the judges and reduce the risk that a point is not validated, it is ADVISABLE to always make a close-up of the state of the 5 cards before the test begins.
- the thrower and the target must always appear in the video excluding close-up moments.
- the competition is open to all, there is no registration fee and no award ceremony.
- given the exceptional moment, instead of regular poker cards, paper or cardboard shapes of 6 cm in width and 9 cm in height are allowed.
- if the edge of the card is accidentally cut or torn the score will be 2 points even if the card has been hit in the center.
- it is possible to use a card several times but the thrower assumes responsibility in case of scoring difficult to read by accepting a lower score.
